OTTAWA — Retail sales in February slid by a greater than expected 0.6%, StatCan reports, due largely to declines in motor vehicles and parts sales and traffic and in gas station traffic. The declines affected eight provinces. Building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers posted their first decline–0.8%–in six months.
