NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Stanley Black & Decker has announced the appointment of George W. Buckley, currently Lead Independent Director, as successor to outgoing Chairman John F. Lundgren. Lundgren, who retired as CEO last summer, is staying on as Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors until Buckley takes the helm on January 1, and will serve as Special Advisor through the end of next April. Buckley first joined the board of Black & Decker in 2006, and upon the merger with Stanley Works in 2010 became a founding member of the newly combined company’s board. From 2005 to 2012, he was chairman, president, and CEO of 3M.
